World War I Selective Service System Draft Registration Cards. Saugus was not a registration point for
the Draft. At least my grandfather and his brother registered in Stoneham, Middlesex County.

DEFRANZO, ARTHUR F. for valor on 10 June 1944, near Vaubadon,
France
Per the History of Saugus, 163 Saugus citizens served as enlisted men in the Civil War, including eight
who served in the Navy.
Over 100 Saugus citizens were members of the first company of Lynn Minutemen, who fought at the
Battle of Bunker Hill. The History of Saugus, available on-line through the Northeast Massachusetts Digital
Library lists those who fought in this battle.
