The US Geological Survey, Geographic Names Information System has a nifty mapping system. After you go to their site, enter Saugus as the Feature Name; Populated place as the Feature Class; and Massachusetts as the state; you get a listing of all the historical and current geographic uses of the name Saugus. Click on one of the choices, Saugus, ID 612812. On the right side of the page in a box called Mapping Service, are clickable buttons to see Saugus represented on a variety of maps. Click on GNIS in Google Map. You have a choice between a street map, an aerial map, and a hybrid of current Saugus. This does require high-speed Internet access. If you have dial-up, this is worth a visit to a library or friend that has high-speed Internet access. |
